Lazetic, who began his career with Red Star Belgrade, made his professional debut at just 16 years old. His early performances caught the attention of AC Milan, who signed him in January 2022 for a reported fee of £3.5 million. However, Lazetic made only two senior appearances during his time in Serie A.

Since joining Milan, Lazetic has been sent out on multiple loan spells to gain experience. He featured for Graficar Beograd, Rheindorf Altach, Fortuna Sittard, and most recently, TSC in Serbia’s top division. At TSC, he made 43 appearances last season and helped the club reach the Conference League knockout phase play-offs.

In his first interview after the move, Lazetic expressed his eagerness to get started. “It feels amazing to finally be here after a bit of a wait, but I am ready to get to work,” he said. He also highlighted how impressed he was with the commitment shown by Aberdeen’s staff. “I saw the desire from the manager and staff to make this happen. I loved the energy from everyone,” he added. Lazetic’s transfer comes with a long-term commitment, suggesting both the player and club see the potential for mutual growth.

A New Chapter and Big Expectations at Pittodrie

Lazetic arrives at Pittodrie with ambitions to develop both as a footballer and a person. “It’s important as a player to be somewhere you feel you can work and excel,” he said. He believes Aberdeen offers the right environment for his continued progress and sees this as a place where he can thrive.

The forward has also been quick to praise Aberdeen’s passionate supporters. “I’ve seen footage of the fans, and I love their intensity,” he stated. “I look at football that way so I cannot wait to get to Pittodrie and hopefully score and celebrate with the fans.”

Lazetic’s arrival gives Aberdeen an exciting attacking option with both domestic and European experience. His time across multiple leagues, including the Serbian SuperLiga, Austrian Bundesliga, and Dutch Eredivisie, has shaped him into a versatile and adaptable forward. The club will hope this breadth of experience helps him transition smoothly into Scottish football.
