Borini, known for his stints at clubs like Liverpool, Sunderland, and AC Milan, was looking for a fresh start after leaving Sampdoria. Speaking to the club’s website, Borini revealed that he initially joined Salford for fitness reasons. “I came in to train to keep myself fit in this transition between contracts,” he said. “Salford, the gaffer (Karl Robinson), and Alex Bruce were kind enough to allow me to use the facilities.”

Having played at the highest levels of European football, Borini has a wealth of experience. However, he acknowledged the challenge of adapting to English League Two football. “I’ve never played League Two football, so I need to learn from my teammates about the main characteristics of this league,” Borini added. “I will bring myself as an open book for my teammates to use me, learn from me, or help me. I’m very open to this challenge.”

Borini’s Football Journey and New Challenge at Salford

Borini began his professional career in the Premier League with Chelsea in 2009. He later made an impact in the English top flight during a loan spell with Swansea in 2011, helping the club earn promotion to the Premier League. Over the years, Borini has played for top clubs like Roma, AC Milan, and Sunderland, where he notably scored for the Black Cats in the 2014 League Cup final loss to Manchester City at Wembley.

Now, as he embarks on this new chapter at Salford City, Borini is eager to prove himself once again. “It’s a challenge that I’m embracing because I need real football,” he said. “I needed something that warms my heart for football, not for anything else.”
